July 2023 Announcements

Pathways

As  many of you saw this summer, Pathways is taking a break this academic year; this means you won’t have to submit data from your classes this year, which I’m sure is a relief to us all.

Textbook distribution

I put hard copies of the 2023-2024 edition of Understanding Rhetoric in your mailboxes on Monday and sent the codes to the e-books last week. GTAs, like I emailed you a few days ago, if you would like your hard copy before the August workshop, please email me.

Syllabi Collection

Just to put it on your radar, please send your syllabi to writing@vt.edu by Friday, August 25th. I’ll send reminder emails later.

Microsoft and Google

As you have read, our Google Workspace storage is changing, with VT moving to using Microsoft; please see the following link for more information: https://it.vt.edu/projects/google-changes/employees.html. For most of us, this won’t affect our work too much (or at all), but if you collect student work with a lot of video files, for example, it might impact you. You can see how much storage you are currently using by clicking on “How to Prepare” in the link I provided above. All employees will have a base 5 GB storage limit for their individual Google My Drive, which should be enough for most of us. If you have questions, please contact Eve Trager (etrager@vt.edu).

Canvas

Earlier this month, Jenna updated the 1105 and 1106 Canvas blueprints. If you have any questions about the materials, please let us know.

Continue to let us on the program leadership team know if you have any questions we can help with.
