UWP Outstanding GTA Award
I’m happy to announce that Ruth Aitken has won the UWP Outstanding GTA Award. Ruth’s dedication to her students and pedagogy was very clear to the UWP committee, and we are thrilled to present this award to her. Please offer her your congratulations when you see her!
April 17 Brown Bag
On Wednesday, April 17 at 12:15 in Shanks 380, I’ll be leading a session on using the new programmatic textbook, Everyone’s an Author, for those of you teaching 1106 in the fall. I’ll go over the chapters and included readings that pair well with the 1106 projects, and you’ll have time to go through the textbook (sent to you as an e-book in February) and ask questions.
Distinguished Student Writing and Document Gallery Update
The plug-in that we were using to house the Distinguished Student Writing samples and the Document Gallery on Hokieswrite.com expired. The good news is that we have been approved for a new plug-in. Until we get that up and running, Jenna has provided a link to a Google Drive with the documents, so you should be able to access the materials that way on Hokieswrite.com.
Please keep any student projects in mind, too, that you’d like to send along as examples as you collect final projects.
Teaching Blog Post
We have a new teaching blog post up on Hokieswrite: https://hokieswrite.com/teaching-blog/. Ari Corradi wrote a lovely piece about the intersection of knitting and writing, and as a bonus, there’s a picture of her cat at the top . If you have something you’d like to write about related to your teaching, I’m happy to collect submissions over the summer. I’ll put out another call once we get into the fall semester, too.
Pathways
As a reminder, we are not collecting Pathways data this semester. Details about what collection will look like in the future are still being decided, and I’ll be in touch as soon as I know more.
As I mentioned in my last announcement, we have moved away from the writing@vt.edu email once the change over from Google happened. Please email me directly with any concerns or questions you have.
Everyone’s an Author on Hokieswrite.com
As another reminder, I’ll continue to populate the Everyone’s an Author tab on Hokieswrite.com as we develop more materials for the new text. Please keep an eye on that as the fall semester comes closer.
