We’re excited (and overdue for posting!) about new materials available on HokiesWrite.com. The program leadership team has recently set into place the following, all in service of modest curricular adjustments:
- Textbook: Learn more about our Fall 2019 adoption of a VT custom Understanding Rhetoric (2nd ed.)
- Program outcomes: Learn more about the program’s revised outcomes, effective Fall 2019.
- ENGL1105 resources: Access the Fall 2019 syllabus template, calendar templates, and curriculum map, in addition to an updated overview of the course.
- ENGL1106 resources: We have Fall 2019 calendar templates ready, and we’re still fine-tuning the syllabus template and curriculum map. We anticipate having these ready for circulation by late May. The overview of the course has been updated.
What’s Next?
We’ve created a document gallery, which we would like to use to organize a range of teaching resources: examples of student writing, teaching portfolios, activity descriptions, slide decks, video tutorials, assignment sheets, and more. In 2019-2020, we will be working on establishing the gallery, and we welcome your ideas for its development.
In addition to establishing yet more robust and detailed resources for instructional staff, we also plan to develop related materials for Virginia Tech students. The work ahead includes gradual outreach, learning more about the ways writing is and isn’t sponsored across campus, and tailoring materials designed to aid in supporting writing practices that are rhetorically astute.
We’re receptive beyond these general goals to learning more about what you would like to see here, what you would like Hokies Write to become. Send your ideas–big and small–to us at writing -AT- vt.edu.
