1105 Brown Bag
Our final Brown Bag of the semester will be on Monday, April 7th at 12:15 via Zoom. Our focus will be on teaching 1105 since many of you are assigned this course for the fall and have not taught this course in years (or perhaps ever). Therefore, Jaclyn Drapeau, Sunshine Passwater, Shakil Rabbi, and Megan Weaver will each talk about how they approach the class, and then we’ll have time at the end of the session for questions.
I’ll be in touch in the coming weeks with the Zoom link and reminders.
Pathways
It’s that time of year again! Pathways data is due by May 16th if your course was selected (and if your course was selected, you should have received multiple emails from Molly Hall). Jenna will follow up with more information if you have any questions.
Removing Office Hours from Hokieswrite.com
At our last UWP committee meeting, we discussed privacy issues, considering our current climate. We therefore took down the office hours and locations for everyone listed on Hokieswrite.com. If you need to contact someone during their office hours, and don’t know when they are, please contact Jenna or me.
Fall and Summer Textbook Orders
Last week, I met with Mary Helen Willett, our Norton publishing representative. We’ll continue using Everyone’s an Author for the 2025-2026 academic year, and I’ll be placing an order for the textbook for both summer and the fall. If you currently don’t have a copy of the textbook, over the summer, you’ll receive both an e-copy and print edition of the textbook, so I’ll be in touch once that process begins.
Blog Posts
As the semester begins to wind down, if you have a topic you’d like to write about via blog, please let me know, and I’ll publish it on Hokieswrite.com (and these can be in any format that you’d like). Similarly, if there are any accomplishments that you and/or your students would like to share related to first-year writing, please email me, and I’d be happy to highlight it on the website.
