Brown Bag Speaker Series
Our final Brown Bag of the semester will be on Wednesday, November 8th at 12:15 in Shanks 370/380. This session will be a follow up to our talk on September 20th with Dale Pike, with the focus being on AI in the Writing Classroom. This session will be a lot more informal, in which we share our experiences with using AI in our classrooms. Please bring successes—and failures—you’ve had and any ideas you’re thinking of using in 1106 as we’re planning for spring. While this session is geared for 1105/1106, a lot of the information would relate to many of our classes, so everyone is welcome.
Outstanding Teaching Portfolios
As we begin to look at the end of the semester (it has to be soon, right??), please think about gathering your materials for the Outstanding Teaching Portfolio awards. We award these near the end of the spring semester, but you can submit your fall 1105 or 1106 class. You can see examples of previous winners here: https://hokieswrite.com/outstanding-teaching-portfolios/, and I’ll be sending out more information as the submission deadline comes closer (in Spring 2024).
UWP Survey
During the first two weeks of November, the UWP Leadership Team will be sending out a survey to gather information about the program, including information about the curriculum, textbook, and Canvas shells. This survey will only be for people teaching in the program, and I will provide more framing information when we send out the survey. In the meantime, I wanted you to be aware that we will be sending out the document in the next few weeks, so please keep an eye out on your email.
